Pedra da Gávea Hike
a true adventure hike
First of all, to hike Pedra da Gávea is not for everyone, but whoever accomplishes will feel a great sense of having done something that few Cariocas ( locals ) have even tried. You should be fit and not be afraid of heights, because the way up sometimes is steep as can be seen on this photo. At the steepest part, called “O Parede”, which means the wall, we will have the support of a local fireman who will be waiting for us with climbing ropes for us to use along with his guidance. On the way up and once up, enjoy the most spectacular views over Barra da Tijuca & Rio de Janeiro, you will awe and your Instagram will go wild.
Bring water and shoes with good grip
How does it work:
Our experienced guide gets you at your hotel/hostel with an appropriate veicule depending on the size of your group. The drive to the start of the trail takes about 20 minutes ( with no traffic ) from Ipanema/Copacabana. The hike up to get to the “wall” will take about 2 hours, stopping for photos along the way. Once at the “wall” the local fireman will be waiting for us and with his help and rope we will clime the steepest part. Another 20 minutes and we are up to se the most spectacular natural beauty that is the Marvellous City. The same way we came up we will also go down, and after the guide will return you back to your hotel/hostel.
